I have been attending and a member of Sunrise for over 23 years, and have served as a deacon for about six years of that time, while serving on the Elder Board for eight. While on the Elder Board I have served as Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-Chairman and Chairman.
I am supported and encouraged by my wife of 39 years, Jeffie, and am privileged to have my son Brannan, his wife Amy, and their children (my
wonderful grandchildren) Abigail and Gavin also in attendance at Sunrise. Jeffie serves as the Deaconess for Hospitality, and she and I both participate
in the Biblical discipleship and counseling efforts offered by Sunrise.
I came to Christ in 1969 while in college at Auburn University. In those days, religious groups could go door-to-door in residence facilities. I was contacted by fellow students from Campus Crusade for Christ. They explained my need for a savior, what that meant and how to go about committing myself to Him. I had been raised in "church" all my life but I never realized the need for a personal relationship until it was explained by these young Christians. I committed myself to Christ some months later as I walked the beach at Gulf Shores as I thought and prayed about what those young men had shared with me.
